Property Description

The Old Rectory on the lake offers the discerning visitor to south Snowdonia five star bed and breakfast accommodation in a stunning setting. There are three double letting rooms - all ensuite - and all look out on the lake. Our two bathrooms upstairs were described as being 'outstanding contemporary ensuites' by the Visit Wales inspector. Satellite television and wireless Broadband is available in all rooms. We serve traditional breakfasts and also offer evening meals using locally sourced foods - we are licensed for guests.

Things To Do

The Old Rectory on the lake has been overlooking Talyllyn for over a century and enjoys spectacular views across this much painted and photographed lake and to the steep sided mountain opposite. The imposing building stands on the foothills of Cader Idris and is an ideal base from which to explore this particularly quiet and unspoilt part of southern Snowdonia. Brown trout fishing can be arranged and we are just 15 miles from the coast and its many activities. The famous Talyllyn railway is just down the valley - on a calm day we can hear its whistle! Pony trekking and quad biking can be booked together with mountain bike hire.

		The Rectory Retreat Our Rectory Retreat can be booked on a bed and breakfast basis. It has been created with the specific needs of those with mobility issues very much in mind. There is a wet room ensuite with walk in shower together with bath, hand basin and toilet. The adjoining large open plan room contains a double and single bed with freshly laundered white Egyptian cotton linen, a well equipped kitchen with split level breakfast bar and an airy sitting area. Sky Plus satellite high definition television and radio channels together with wireless broadband facilities are also available. The Rectory Retreat boasts incredible views of the lake and the craggy ridge beyond.	Room Rate £45 per person per night on a daily bed and breakfast basis. This includes a traditional breakfast taken in the main house

Directions

The Old Rectory on the lake is equidistant between the bustling towns of Machynlleth and Dolgellau and the delightful coastal village of Aberdyfi. From Dolgellau take the A470 in a southerly direction. At the Cross Foxes Inn take the A487 and follow road up the pass and down the other side. Then take the right hand turn onto the B4405 (signposted Tywyn) and follow this road along the lake side. As you get towards the end of the lake you will see The Old Rectory welcoming you across the water. Turn right at head of lake and continue along this single track lane for about a quarter of a mile.
