Things To Do

Gladestry itself is on the ancient Drovers route from deepest Wales to the London markets. Archaeological sites abound. Kington (5 miles) is a bustling town over 1000 years old - many ancient buildings and traditions remain. A visit to Hergest Croft Gardens is strongly recommended. Hay-on-Wye (8 miles) enjoys an international reputation for its shops selling new and used books, and hosts festivals throughout the year. Walking, particularly the Offa's Dyke Path, is a major attraction. Magnificent scenery can also be enjoyed from the car or cycle on quiet roads and unspoilt tracks. Golf on the highest course in England, Horse riding and Ballooning, Canoeing on the Wye, craft workshops, wonderful old churches, and excellent places to eat.
