Tantallon House bed and breakfast accommodation, located on the border of Cumbria and Northumberland, overlooks the longest unbroken stretch of Hadrian's Wall. We offer a peaceful getaway spot and an ideal gateway to the many places of interest in this area.

As a family-run business in a rural community, we aim to run our bed and breakfast accommodation in an environmentally friendly way, thereby promoting sustainable tourism. This includes everyday energy reduction and the encouragement of local wildlife.

We have three spacious twin guestrooms, two with glorious views of the Irthing Valley and Hadrian's Wall. Guests have private dining and lounge rooms to eat and relax in.

We have car parking, wireless internet and a beautiful owl in an aviary in our garden who has proven very popular with our guests.

Things To Do

The Hadrian's Wall National Trail at 84 miles long passes through some of the most beautiful parts of England. The trail provides access to some of the best sections of the Wall whilst using a rich variety of public paths. Cyclists may want a long distance tour or a short ride cycle along Sustrans Hadrian's Cycleway with well surfaced gravel cycle paths and quiet minor roads.

Directions

From the East - On the A69 once past Halwhistle, take the B6318 signposted Gilsand and Greenhead. At the crossroads continue straight over. As you enter the village of Gilsland go under the railway bridge and turn right at the T Junction at the Bridge Inn pub. Take the next left after the bridge signposted Birdoswald. Tantallon House is 200m on the right hand side.

From the West - From the A69 take the minor road signposted Denton, Gilsland and Birdoswald. Cross the railway line and continue into the village. Bear left at the T Junction by the Bridge Inn pub. Cross over the bridge and take the next left signed for Birdoswald. Tantallon House is 200m on the right hand side.
