Elmdale Garden Studio is tucked away in a quiet corner of the beautiful unspoilt waterside town of Manningtree.Nestled on the banks of the Stour estuary on the Essex/Suffolk boarder this is a perfect place to stay relax and unwind and be spoilt.Several excellent restaurants are all within a short walking distance including the award winning Mistley Thorn.
A new Italian the 'Lucca' is opening in early September 2007.
We source fresh local ingredients ( mainly organic) for our delicious breakfasts whenever possible including bacon from nearby Jimmy's farm.
Walk The Essex Way from the top of our drive and explore Flatford Mill, Willy Lott's cottage and Dedham which is on our doorstep in the heart of Constable Country.The walk which straddles the river Stour takes you along to the salt waters of the Estuary which is a bird watchers paradise.Home for water fowl, waders and many other birds including Egrets.
Garden lovers can visit Beth Chatto's gardens which are just a 15 minutes drive away.
Harwich Port, Colchester Britain's oldest recorded town with its Norman castle and Ipswich are all within a 20 minute drive.

Things To Do

15 minutes drive from Colchester and Essex University. 20 minutes drive from the international port of Harwich and Ipswich. On the doorstep of Constable country and the world renowned Beth Chatto's Gardens. Excellent bird-watching, cycling, sailing & walking, all local. The 'Essex Way' passes at the top of our drive. Why not hire our beach hut with all facilities and superb sea views at nearby Walton -on-the-Naze.
