Fort Augustus is in the heart of the Highlands, making Lorien House an ideal base to spend a few days exploring. Things To Do

| Fort Augustus is the ideal base for exploring the Scottish Highlands. Lorien House is right in the centre of this pretty village, with its numerous shops, bars and restaurants a mere two minute walk away. The famous Caledonian Canal is on our doorstep. Built in 1803 by Thomas Telford, it has five locks and boats take around 1 hour to pass through. Why not visit the Caledonian Canal Heritage Centre and find out more about the history of this great canal. Take a cruise on Loch Ness aboard the Royal Scot Departing every hour throughout the season, for a full day trip, take the Loch Ness Express, which departs twice daily from Fort Augustus and sails the full length of the Loch, terminating in Inverness.
There are Canal and Forest/river walks around Fort Augustus and we are right on the Great Glen Way, a 73 mile long distance trail from Fort William to Inverness. Fort Augustus is the mid-point on this footpath |

The nearest airports are situated in Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
By Car
Fort Augustus is located at the southern end of Loch Ness, 31 miles north of Fort William and 34 miles South of Inverness on the A82.
By car, the A82 winds North to Fort William. Continue along the A82 for 31 miles towards Inverness. As you enter the village of Fort Augustus we are situated on the left hand side on Station Road just before the canal swing bridge.
Travelling South from Inverness, enter Fort Augustus, continue over the Canal Bridge and we are on the right hand side on Station Road.
