| The Lochshiel House Hotel is located in the village of Acharacle at the southern tip of Loch Shiel on the The Lochshiel House Hotel is a family run hotel situated in Acharacle about a 100 meters from the southern tip of Loch Shiel and at the top of the Ardnamurchan peninsula. It was built in the late 19th century as a hunting lodge and still retains much of its old world charm. The area is steeped in history as it was up Loch Shiel that Bonnie Prince Charlie sailed before landing at Glenfinnan in 1745 at the beginning of the famous Jacobite revolution. For those of you who love the natural beauty and wildlife of the Western Highlands there is plenty to do in the area with its wonderful walks, scenic drives, beaches, boat trips and many other leisure activities including fishing, biking and kayaking. We are dog friendly so please advise us of your needs if you wish to bring your dog.
Visitors to this area invariably find that they fall in love with it and return time after time.

| In an hour from the Lochshiel House Hotel you can be on the Isle of Mull, Glencoe, Fort William and Ben Nevis, Mallaig and the boat to Skye. The area offers an abundance of activities and is an excellent place to locate yourself away from the hussle and bustle of town life.
The area offers some of the finest beaches in the British Isles, walking, climbing, Fishing, Biking & Kayaking are just some of the leisure activities on offer and for wildlife watchers there is plenty to do with Seals, Dolphins & Whales on the agenda at the coast to Sea & Golden Eagles and many other bird life in the air to Pine Martins and deer on the land.
A visit to the area can also include visits to movie locations as due to its natural beauty the area has been used in the making of many movies including Braveheart (Glencoe), Harry Potter (Glenfinnan), Rob Roy (Glen Nevis), Local Hero (Morar/Arisaig)and of course Highlander (Castle Tioram/Moidart) .

Directions

| By Road Acharacle is a small Highland village on the shore of Loch Shiel. The A861 passes through the centre of Acharacle from the Corran Ferry in the East and Lochailort and Mallaig (A830) to the north and west.
Approximate driving times are three hours from both Inverness to the north and Glasgow to the south.
If you are travelling by bus, you will find timetable details by visiting the Scottish Citylink website.
By Rail Scotrail runs a regular service from Glasgow Queen Street to Fort William on the West Highland line.
By Air The most convenient airports are Inverness (80 miles) and Glasgow (90 miles) from where you can hire a car.
