Things To Do
|
| Here in the historic town of Whitby, there is plenty of things to do. You can climb the 199 steps to the Abbey and St Mary's church, which were Bram Stokers inspiration when he wrote Dracula.
You can learn about the famous explorer, Captain Cook by visiting his museum, and take a boat ride on his replica ship the Bark Endevour.
You can take a steam train to Grosmont and Goathland (famous for Heartbeat) and Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway ( Famed from the Harry Potter movies).
You can treat yourself to some beautifully crafted Whitby Jet jewellry and visit the museum which explains how the Jet is formed.
There are plenty of country walks to explore or just take in the wonderful landscape and relax on our blue flag beach. |

Directions

| From the South: A1/M to A64 York follow signs to Scarborough. A169 signposted Malton / Pickering / Whitby follow signs Pickering / Whitby. At Pickering follow signs Whitby. At Whitby roundabout * follow signs to Town Centre, branch left at Garden Centre, signposted West Cliff Parking / Sandsend. At junction turn right, follow the road to the end, at roundabout 1st exit, Upgang Lane, first exit on right (after George Harrison Rover Garage) Crescent Avenue, after sharp left hand bend, 1st turning on right, Normanby Terrace / John Street. The Leeway is at the bottom of the street on the left hand side.
From North, follow signs to Middlesborough at Middlesborough follow signs to A171 Scarborough / Whitby. At Whitby roundabout * follow the above signs. |
