Holmhead was a former farm , now tastefully converted to a comfortable guest house with 4 rooms each one with shower/toilet . theres a guest lounge with a mini bar and T.V
and all rooms have lovely views of countryside and some views of the ruined castle nearby . we provide delicious home cooked evening meals using fresh produce imaginately prepared and organic wherever possible . we boast- probably the longest breakfast menue in the world . and have won many awards for the food served here . guests dine together at the large oak candlelit table. there is a good wine list specializing in award winning organic wine from all around the world. your host was tour guide, specializing on Hadrian's Wall and can help you plan your visit

Walk the Wall . visit Vindolanda and Housesteads fort ruins join the archaeologists at vindalanda visit the lake district , and scottish borders DurhamCathedral Northumberland Coast , cities of Newcastle-upon -Tyne Carlisle . Abbeys and National trust properties, alnwick castle-(harry potter) ride horse /bike or play golf . museums and farm museums for children . great shopping at Newcastle stroll/walk/do nothing/relax./ swim

here is the" Centre of Britain " half way between Edinburgh and York on the World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall the most northerly border or the Roman Empire
aproach from west M6 junction 43(S) or 44 (N) or
A1 from east travel east to west or vice versa on A69
until you reach Greenhead village find our signpost in the cafe car park opposite the hotel in the middle of the village .drive between cafe and youth hostel.drive over bridge.
take the farm track northwards for 1/2 mile
